I had been thinking what the appeal is of doing this trips Certainly one aspect is the simplicity of travel. There is not much to think about except to enjoy the landscape as it rolls by. I like that you can feel the wind and smell the smells. Oh. And the cold. We had a crisp cold start with the volcano’s showing off on a beautiful morning. The Rangitikei was stunning in the early morning. The last bit into Wellington is always a bit of a grind and today was no different. By the time we were approaching Wellington I had used up all the potential non bruised spots on my bum and was very ready for a break! The 500 is not a tourer.
Tomorrow we head into the Clarence valley through the Bluff and Muzzle stations. No wifi, no cell, no worries.
